Dear Valued Member,
We want to inform you of a current issue affecting our debit card program. Our debit card network is currently the target of a brute force attack—a type of fraudulent activity where cyber criminals through computer software and automation attempt to guess valid card details to make unauthorized transactions. Unfortunately, this type of fraud has hit many other credit unions and financial institutions throughout the country.
We want to assure you that our systems remain secure, and no member data or personal account information has been compromised. This activity is being carried out externally, and we are taking swift action to protect your financial security.
As a precaution, we are in the process of reissuing debit cards to impacted members. We understand this may be inconvenient, and we sincerely apologize. Your safety is our top priority.
Due to increased concern, we are currently experiencing high call volume. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any extended wait times.
In the meantime, you can take the following steps through the MidSouth Mobile app:
- Block or unblock your debit card by going to Accounts > Card Management
- Set up real-time alerts to receive a text message whenever your debit card is used. Go to Tools > Alerts to enable this feature and stay informed of any activity.
We are working closely with fraud prevention experts to stop this activity and are doing everything we can to protect our members from further impact.
If you have any questions or notice suspicious activity on your account, please contact us at 478-471-9946 or at moreinfo@midsouthfcu.org.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued trust in MidSouth Community FCU.
Sincerely,
Roy Bibb, MidSouth Community FCU President/CEO
