MidSouth Community Federal Credit Union recently held a reception for the recipients of their 2018 Tom Bentley Memorial Scholarship program.

Maddie Jackson, of Macon, has been awarded the 2018 High School Scholarship. A 2018 graduate of Howard High School, Miss Jackson will attend the University of Georgia this fall and major in Social Work. The high school scholarship is a $4,000 award that is paid to the recipient’s college in installments of $1,000 per year.

Alexis Kelley, of Sparta, has been awarded the 2018 Continuing Education Scholarship. Ms. Kelley is a 2013 graduate of Baldwin High School and recent graduate of Georgia Military College. She will enroll in the nursing program at Middle Georgia State University this fall. The continuing education scholarship is a $2,000 award that is paid to the recipient’s college in installments of no more than $500 per semester.

Applicants were judged on the basis of grades, SAT and ACT scores, service provided in school and in the community, recommendations by teachers or administrators, and financial need.

This year’s Scholarship Committee was comprised of Beth Byers, Executive Director of Development at Middle Georgia State University; Brenda Griffin, Project Coordinator with the Macon Economic Development Commission; and Tonya McClure, Assistant Vice President of Advancement at Central Georgia Technical College.
